What this format is
Strava’s account export is a zip of numbered files plus a CSV of names. This tool matches them, names each file after the activity, and writes GPX (or TCX) with heart rate and cadence in Garmin’s track-point extension so Garmin Connect and Strava can read them.
How to get the file
- From Garmin Connect
- 1. This page is for a Strava zip. For a single Garmin activity, use FIT to GPX.
- 2. In Garmin Connect, open an activity → the ⋯ menu → Export as GPX or FIT.
- From Strava
- 1. Strava website → Settings → My account → Download or delete your account → Download request.
- 2. Wait for the email, download the zip, drop it here. Do not unzip it first.
What is kept and what is lost
| Kept | Lost or missing |
|---|---|
| Date, name, type, description from activities.csv | Photos, kudos, comments, and gear from the Strava website |
| GPS track, elevation, time | Strava relative effort and other site-only stats |
| Heart rate, cadence, and power (Garmin TrackPointExtension + power extension) | Standard GPX has no sensor fields — converters that skip the extension drop them |
